Microwave Cranberry Sauce

Delicious Homemade Sauce In Minutes

8 cup (2L) casserole dish with lid

3 cups

frozen cranberries

750 mL

1 cup

granulated sugar

250 mL

1/4 cup

water

60 mL

1/4 tsp

finely grated orange zest (optional)

1 mL

In a casserole dish, combine all ingredients. Microwave, covered, on High for 5-8 minutes, stirring once halfway through the cooking period. Sauce is ready when berries have popped or can be easily popped with a spoon. Stir well, breaking all berries. Let cool to allow sauce to thicken. Makes about 2 cups (500mL).

The sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Note: Some frozen cranberries may require rinsing (It will advise you on the package). Simply, place cranberries in collander and rinse under cold water. In this case, cooking time may be slightly less.
