Consumers are bombarded daily with advice about healthy and better living. A lot of it is confusing, misleading or downright incorrect. I want to provide a site that gives useful and accurate information for smart living. If I don't have the facts, I'll find them or I'll point the person in the right direction.
A little about me:
I grew up in a small town in Northern Ontario. There, I developed a true appreciation for nature and the environment.
Stores and services were limited. Often, you just had to improvise. Self sufficiency was a necessity. That's where the smart living comes in.
I have an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Sciences with specialization in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Toronto. Education has really never ended for me. I continue to take courses, attend lectures and seminars, research and read. I just like to keep on top of things.
I began my career in a hospital environment, involved in research and therapeutic nutrition. Over the years my focus has shifted towards preventative health, nutrition being a prime element.
During the time I was raising my children, I worked as a substitute teacher. I was called upon to teach everything from Chemistry to Family studies; even watched over a few shop classes. There are benefits to having a broad background.
I presently focus my time consulting and consumer writing and when I am not doing that I am developing recipes for a cookbook.
I am a member of the Ontario Home Economics Association and the Ontario Home Economists in Business.
I am a mother of three and a grandmother of three.
Hope you enjoy the site and contact me with any suggestions.
